Hair loss in men as well as baldness related products are seemingly everywhere on television commercials, magazine ads, and other place / media you can name it. How about that one for men that talks about some aerosol spray that you have to actually put on your hair/head?

Men’s hair loss is the major advertising thrust on TV and other media. Well, the main problem with that is women suffer from all kinds of hair loss situations. The shocking fact is that hair loss in women happens with greater frequency, and there’s a wider variety of causal factors for it. We’ll cover just some of the primary reasons for women’s hair loss.

The most obvious reason that a woman might lose her hair is to cancer therapy treatments. Thinning and loss of hair due to chemotherapy is a well-documented side-effect.

There are stories, magazines, articles, and books dedicated to helping women deal with the effects of this type of baldness. There are even charities that are devoted to helping women find wigs that are made out of real hair so that they can look as “natural” as possible while they wait for their hair to start growing back on its own.

Believe it or not, pregnancy can have quite a large effect on a woman’s hair. The change is different for women, for some there’s an increase in the rate of growth, and for others there’s some loss of hair. This is quite common after the baby is born when all of the extra hair that grew in while the woman was pregnant starts to be shed.

Obviously, mothers experiencing pregnancy for the first time may be a bit alarmed with this. Once, however, all the body chemicals/hormones balance-out and are normal, then they’ll see their hair condition return to its former state. So the main point is to not let it get you too worked-up.

Sadly, one of the leading causes of women’s hair loss is genetics. It depends on who in your family carries the gene, so it’s possible to get a good idea about whether or not you will become susceptible.

Genetically caused hair loss is very difficult to cope with because it cannot be stopped, and there is not one thing anyone can do about it. Obviously this a huge source of embarrassment for a woman, and she’s helpless. These women have no choice but to try to hide their condition, and hair transplants may be not be a good option, either.

Men’s hair loss is much more widely discussed than women’s hair loss. We have no idea as to why this happens. It is perfectly understandable that most women are probably too embarrassed to seek help with this condition. However we hope this will change. In time and with research, women’s hair loss will be understood better.
